A heritage conservation district is an area of historical importance to the community and comprises a collection of building, streets and open spaces. The Baldwin Street corridor in Brooklin was designated a heritage conservation district in 2008, enabling council to manage and guide future changes through policies and guidelines for conservation, protection and enhancement of its historical value.

According to Bob Carey of Stockworth Developments Inc., the new approximately 30,000-square-foot development has been created to suit the character of the area.
